Celebrating Sujan Selvan: A Beacon of Multicultural Politics and Social Entrepreneurship
Mr. Sujan Selven is a name that has recently made waves in the political and entrepreneurial landscapes. As the first Sri Lankan Tamil elected in Cumberland Council, Australia, Sujan has broken barriers and paved the way for more excellent multicultural political representation. His journey is one of resilience, dedication, and a deep commitment to community and social justice.
Beyond politics, Sujan Selven is also a serial social entrepreneur. He co-founded Upcycled Tech, a project aimed at providing internet connectivity and upcycled devices to remote villages in Northeast Sri Lanka. This initiative seeks to improve education, create job opportunities, and open up digital businesses in underserved areas. Sujan’s work with Upcycled Tech has been recognized for its impact on lifting communities into the digital economy.
Upcycled Tech has provided devices, connectivity, and financial support to SAHO Creations during its initiation period. This support helped us sustain our journey.
In addition, Mr Sujan supported conducting a Digital Storytelling class at Aatral Fine Arts in Adampan, Mannar, in 2023. He provided the equipment (10 PCs, GoPro 9, mics, drone, etc.), and SAHO Creations conducted the classes on a charity basis.
Further, he has initiated a Business Board website that gathers all the data of Sri Lankan businesses. The platform supports the creation of networking among the community.
Moreover, we are happy to say that Mr. Sujan is our mentor and guide for all our efforts.
